Postgraduate Diploma in Policing Studies 
The Scottish Institute for Policing Research (SIPR) Postgraduate Diploma in Policing Studies is a  collaborative initiative involving contributions of modules by a consortium of universities and has
been developed in close cooperation with the Scottish Police College. The programme will draw  on the world-class expertise of Scotland’s universities and will provide an innovative, relevant, and
interdisciplinary programme for all those involved in policing.
The Programme comprises a Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Policing Studies. The Postgraduate Diploma will comprise four 30 credit modules, selected from the following:
• Theories, concepts and models of policing, led by the University of the West of Scotland
• Education and Social Research, led by the University of Dundee
• Managing and controlling crime led by the University of Glasgow
• Management and leadership in policing organisations, led by Robert Gordon University
• Social identity and the makings of community: anxiety, threat and security, led by St Andrews University
• Further modules may become available over time
Who is it for?
The programme has been developed for police officers and police staff, people involved with policing
from other backgrounds (such as those in the public, community and voluntary sectors who work in criminal justice and community safety fields) and those interested in a career in policing from across
the UK and internationally.
How is it delivered?
The postgraduate diploma is delivered via elearning and attendance at workshops. All modules are supported by the university’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) called My Dundee. All students receive training on how to access and utilise these technologies as well as assistance in academic study and writing skills from the University’s Learning Enhancement Unit. The programmes are all part time. Students who successfully complete the diploma can progress onto the MSc Applied
Professional Studies (Policing Studies).

The SIPR Postgraduate Diploma in Policing Studies has flexible entry and exit points to allow you to join the programme at the level appropriate to your education and experience. Requests for recognition of prior learning and experience for up to 50% of the programme may be
considered by the Programme Director.
You must hold:
•A relevant degree and/or a relevant professional qualification and evidence of ability to work at the post graduate level
• Interview and additional written submission may be required at the discretion of the Programme Director

MSC in COUNTERING ORGANISED CRIME AND TERRORISM
The MSc in Countering Organised Crime and Terrorism seeks to equip students and professionals with the knowledge to understand, analyse, prevent and disrupt organised crime and terrorism. MSc in CRIME SCIENCE
The MSc in Crime Science is Europe`s leading course on scientifically based techniques that deliver sustainable reductions in crime. Established since 2001, this MSc provides students with a thorough understanding of how science and scientifically based techniques can deliver immediate and sustainable reductions in crime. The programme focuses on how to apply science better to understand crime problems, and develop strategies for reducing such problems by (a) stopping them from happening in the first place and (b) increasing the probability of detecting and arresting offenders.
